And afterward, we stood in a line for about 15 minutes and then, I did it. I smiled for my picture, and then I turned to Stephenie Meyer and had my minute of finally meeting her - after 8 years of obsession, nearly to the day (I fell down the rabbit hole Thanksgiving weekend, 2008), I told her what was written on my heart for her: "Because of you, I found my tribe. And they mean the world to me." I'm crying now just remembering how it felt to say that to her, at last. I choked up saying it, but I got the words out. She seemed genuinely affected by my words, looked me right in the eye, and said, "Thank you so much for telling me that. I think it's so important to have those strong female friendships, they help us get through so many challenges. Thank you."
"ZOMG, you guys, look who I'm standing next to!"
Those are my books she's touching. They are in my house RIGHT NOW. I had her sign my original copy of Twilight, and of course her new book, The Chemist, which I've just started reading. It was such a small moment in time, but I will treasure the memory forever. It seemed only right to post it here. I love you all. <3
