Blog #1 - or, how I came late to this party

Everyone has a blog.  This is what a friend laughed at me last Memorial Day weekend when, after being asked what Wil Wheaton was up to these days, I lamely replied, "I think he has a blog..."

Well, I didn't have a blog.  Until today!  Hi there!

To begin with, I am not a Wil Wheaton expert or acquaintance, even.  My friend and I (and our husbands, all on the way to the coast for the day) had been discussing celebrity sightings and/or run-ins, of which my sole claim to not-quite-fame is that I sold an ill Wil Wheaton a cup of tea when he walked into the Starbucks I worked at on Foothill Blvd in Pasadena in 1999.  Honestly, I didn't even know it was him until he and his girl left and my coworker turned to me and said, "You know who that was, don't you?"  And I was a major Star Trek: TNG fan, so I was a little embarrassed to not recognize him at the time.

I've decided to create this blog, because it is cheaper than therapy and because it lately seems like there might be people out there in the great wide world with whom I have stuff in common - other than the people with whom I normally hang out (as great as all of those people are).  Case in point: my not-so-small Twilight obsession.  Recently, one of my husband's female friends discovered Twilight and seems to be (possibly) just as obsessed as I am.  (For example, we are planning to accompany the lovely ladies of Twitarded on their Forks pilgrimage in October.)  So now I have her to geek out with, but only one of my other friends has even read these books, and she is most definitely not the freak I am about them.

A little about me: I am 29 (so maybe I'm also having a pre-30 type of mid-life crisis, as in "what the Hell am I doing with my life???!!" It's entirely possible.), have my BA in Theatre Arts (emphasis: Performance), attended but did not graduate from baking school, and currently work as a corporate office monkey (technically, administrative assistant, but let's be honest).  I am an only child, which definitely speaks volumes about my social awkwardness and OCD-tinged tendencies.  Somehow, I found a lovely and hilarious man who wanted to marry me, and we adopted a cat together.  One day there will be small ones running around, as well, but DH was laid off last winter (along with many thousands (millions?) of others) and has gone back to school, leaving me as the sole breadwinner for the family and neither of us in the position of truly being ready to have children quite yet.  For one thing, I hear they're expensive little fuckers, and for another, they need someone who will be able to take care of them (read: not working or attending classes).  So, we wait.  Some of us more patiently than others - I have the Baby Fever for sure.

More immediately, I had one-and-a-half grilled cheese sandwiches and a glass of wine for dinner, while poring over the archives of Twitarded (after all, I don't want to be unprepared when I meet these ladies in the fall, and I only discovered their hilarious blog last November).  It was quite the week at work, so cheese, wine, and laughing were most definitely what the doctor ordered.  Now I wait for DH to return from his show so we can start clearing off the DVR together.  This is actually the plan for the weekend.

I'm not sure this blog will be at all focused, at least not at first, or that anyone will even read it.  I just thought I'd give it a shot.  Happy Friday!
