Happy Thanksgiving, Twitardia!
Thanksgiving is, of course, a day of giving thanks and of coming together with those you love. It also happens to be my Twilight-iversary, as Thanksgiving weekend 2008 was when I first devoured the Saga. This year, I'm extra thankful for that lost weekend, because it led me to meet an asston of you in a little town called Forks, and gave me friendships that span great distances, but which I keep close to my heart at all times. I love you ladies.
Other things for which I'm thankful, in no particular order:
- I now live less than three miles from Madison High School, where the Biology scenes were filmed.
Edward puts an end to things early.Wait a minute... that's not right...
Stinky Bella is unappetizing to Angel Edward. Don't worry, Edward, I shower daily.- TH (even if he wasn't playing Edward, he's my favorite)
- supportive friends and family (and kitties named Charlie)
- a home that doesn't make me or TH sad or upset or sick
- moving forward
And, of course, I'm thankful it's Thursday!
That's right, I have a drink for you on this holiday!
"Oh yeah. Okay."
So what are we making, you wonder? I'm going to show you how to make my favorite non-coffee, non-chocolate hot Fall beverage. (A lot of qualifiers, but I don't do well picking favorites.) We're making a Chai Cider. Now, this used to be available at nationwide coffee chains, and I fell in lurve with it while I worked at them, and then they took it off the menus. They'll still make it, if you ask nicely, though. It's very simple.
Ingredient roll call:
Let's see... yup, chai and cider. We have both! We're in business.
I feel like it's missing something...
There we go - that will get me through a family holiday.
"Ta daaa!" "Ta daaa!"
Spiced Rum.
(Optional. They will probably not give you this at Starbucks, no matter how nicely you ask.)
The traditional chai cider is just half cider...
... and half chai...
Heated (the microwave is easiest)...
Wait...
Guys?
Hey, get out of there! You'll melt!
"Thanks!"
"Phew! That was a close call!"
"Yes! We are thankful you pulled us out of there in time!"
Now I can turn on the micro.
(Make sure you check for mini-Edwards, Pocket Edwards, or any Edwards at all before you turn yours on.)
Heat to taste.
And add a splash of the spiced rum at the end!
YUM!
A chai cider is spicy and warm and perfect for Fall, especially when you're having the unseasonably cold weather we're having here! Brrr! A perfect warm drink (alcoholic or no) to counteract the tryptophan sleepies.
And now, a bounty of quotes upon which you may feast!
If you count all your assets, you always show a profit. ~Robert Quillen
We can always find something to be thankful for, and there may be reasons why we ought to be thankful for even those dispensations which appear dark and frowning. ~Albert Barnes
Thanksgiving, after all, is a word of action. ~W.J. Cameron
Thanksgiving comes to us out of the prehistoric dimness, universal to all ages and all faiths. At whatever straws we must grasp, there is always a time for gratitude and new beginnings. ~J. Robert Moskin
We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. ~Thornton Wilder
Thanksgiving, man. Not a good day to be my pants. ~Kevin James
Cheers to all my lovely Twitarded friends - whether you're in this or any other photo in this post, or not. MWAH! I love you ladies hard, and your friendships mean more to me than you probably realize. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!
Be Safe!
Cheers, SmartE!
(You didn't think I'd leave you out, did you???)
I think this may be the best Face in Hole ever made, by the way. You're welcome.

There is not enough room in this little comment box to list all the things I am thankful for this year :)
I am thankful for you and that I had the opportunity to meet you and all the other wonderful members of Twitardia in Forks.
I am grateful for a job, a home, a loving family, great friends, and a great therapist.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Aww cute post, and that drink looks delicious!
I bet you're happy to be all settled in your new house. How's Charlie liking it?
As for what I'm thankful for: Family, friends, a home, a job and my cat ;)

Awwwww! Cheers to you, too, girlie. I keep saying this, but I'm really thankful that this crazy journey led me to you and my other bloggy besties. My life is richer because of it.
So glad that you got all moved and are in a place that makes you, TH, the Edlets, and Charlie happy :)
MWAH!

Aww, yay, Forks memories. My favorite. I am very thankful for Forks. And I'm thankful that I got to meet everyone. It was the bestest ever. I am also thankful for mini Edward. If it honestly wasn't for him, I never would have met anyone here.
That is very good advice you give. I too alawys check the microwave and any other dangerous appliance for Edwards before turning them on.
Cheers to you too, love!
XoXoXo

: )
gobble gobble!
I'm thankful for this post!!! You are such a sweetie and so fun! I can't believe how awesome it was to hang during our tour. Forks was amazing and so was our trip to see Eclipse! I can feel plans for roughly a year from now brewing for the Breaking Dawn premiere, maybe???
But you still have to get me drunk enough to sing first! LOL! ;)
Love you HARD!!! xoxoxo
Aww this was such a great tribute post MB! I actually was surprised to learn you read the Saga this time last year. I thought you had been in it much longer!
I remember one of your earlier posts I read you were really frustrated with your condo and we were all trying to be encouraging that you would get through it, and now look at you, TM, adorable Charlie, and the 'lets all cozy in your new home. Wishing you happy memories there and golden onions!
I love Oregon Chai tea concentrate. I make my own Chai tea at home with that.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! :)
LMAO - @TT - um, 2008 was two years ago. ;) Last year (2009), I discovered Twitarded and you fine people just before Thanksgiving weekend, which led me to spending my 2009 Thanksgiving vacay devouring fanfic for the first time. This year, I didn't do anything nearly so exciting.
@SV - BD plans? Yes, please! We also need to plan our PDX-centric tour with the local Twitards... maybe in the Spring?
@STY - even now that I've met you, I'm such a fangirl when you comment on my blog! I squeed at my phone when I got your comment. ;) Please feel free to use the trinity - I'm a little surprised no one's called you all that before! LMAO
@LwE - I, too, am thankful for the 'lets, and I have you to thank for T.Edlet! You're the best.
@Lisa, DD, and Jen - three of my very first friends here! I love you three hard.
I promise I'll be back on Twitter soon to shower you all in love and affection! MWAH!
i love this post (yea, i know i'm late!) the pictures are great.
i'm thankful for twitardia - the daily escape is necessary to keep me happy and content.
Well fuck. Where the hale have I been that I missed out on having my face in your hole???!!!
Oh yeah...I've been busy coughing up a lung and trying to siphon out the river of mucuous that was formerly known as my sinus cavity.
I'm thankful for so many things...having a warm house (cuz it's muther.fuh.king witch tit COLD here) and little things like food, and family, and clothes (i'm sure my neighbors are thankful for that too) and sweethearts like you who help keep me slightly sane. I still hate that I couldn't go to Forks, but I'll get over it...someday.
Happy Gobble Gobble...a week late. :)
Aaaaaaaaaand thanks for the shout! You can face-in-hole me anytime! ;D
xoxo
