Perhaps you've read my previous plumbing posts, here is my story in pictures (complete with happy ending)!
Once upon a time, we discovered a leak behind the shower wall. A plumber was called and the leak was fixed, but a hole had to be cut behind the shower for it to be reached.

About a week later, the floor started to bulge, so TH and my FIL tore up the laminate...

...only to find crazy water damage! Oh no! This floor has got to go! (Before we fall through it a la
The Money Pit - which would not be good because someone else lives below us.)
Our neighbor knew a drywall guy, so out he came...

He tore up both subfloors and the wall, then replaced them...

And the HOA is going to reimburse us for everything (as we are surface-to-surface owners, the HOA is financially responsible for in-wall issues, like plumbing, and this was a result of a plumbing leak)! Even though part of that is money we've paid in, this is still a huge boon to us.
And this weekend, TH an my FIL replaced the flooring!

I like it even better than the original flooring (which you can kind of see in the first few pics). Full of WIN! There are still finishing touches to do (some caulking and paint), but this is way better than where we've been for about two months. So: *HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF*.
Also causing me relief: we were approved to short sell our house!! (For about $50,000 less than our purchase price, so you can see it was probably overpriced in the first place.) So we've signed the listing and disclosure statement, and the realtor will now begin trying to sell it. Once it sells, we'll move, and TH and I are apartment-hunting at all times, just in case. So: phew!!!
Anyone wanna buy a condo in Portland? Super low price, and a new bathroom floor... ;)

Congrats on getting your short sell approved. Plus getting your plumbing hassles behind you. LOL
Hope it sells quickly.
Whoops! This wasn't supposed to post until tomorrow. Silly Blogger.
Oh well.
TM - thanks! Huge relief, all around!!
Sweet!
Glad you got everything fixed up and approved! You guys are on your way to the next step and it will be a good one!
Bathroom flooring looks very nice!
Your pics remind me of our upstairs bathroom growing up. We had to rip out one of the walls with the piping in it and one of our cats would always crawl in it and get under the bath tub and all through the ceiling/floor, depending if you were upstairs or downstairs. We would just hear her running around all through the walls of the house. And we couldn't keep her out of it. She would always sneek in there. But she always found her way out.
Anyway, I love the new flooring. I love greys and white in bathrooms.
Congrats on the short sell and your new bathroom floor. Lookin good! Don't envy the move though - I just moved a few weeks ago and scored my first grey hairs...
That's great you got approved. The bathroom floor looks nice - sucks that you had a leak but I am amazed you had such a good pictorial. It's funny that every time I read Portland I still smile over your Twilight set posts.
