One thing I did get done, though, was taking Mrs P's avi and visiting the Twilight monuments nearest my home! TH was a trooper, and chauffeured us, nearly killing both of us and burning Mrs P's avi into a cinder in the process. Here is our tale.
One super sunny morning, we woke up and I (seeing the sun) announced, "Today is the day for Mrs. P!" TH had been briefed on my plans, so he knew what I was talking about, but wanted some breakfast first. So we headed out to our nearby diner.
I had been nervous that we wouldn't be allowed to take photos at all, and that people would start calling the cops when a crazed Twifan (myself) holding a cartoonized version of another fan (Mrs P) showed up and started taking photos, so I was pumped to see this sign. I stayed off the gravel, even (since I couldn't tell if that constituted part of the yard or not).
So, that was very exciting - I didn't realize how fun it would be just to see it in person, and at this point I was raring to go to the Cullen house!
Back in the car, back to Portland. No turn-by-turn photos here, as it was more complex to get to, although VERY simple once we actually got there. I could take any of you there, should you care to visit, and I promise not to drive you off the road.
So here is the road leading up to it:
You can see in the distance it jogs a little to the left, just beyond that is the house. It looks like a forest road, but it's actually super residential, just alongside a steep drop off.
We weren't sure how close it was, so TH just kept going...
This is where our lives nearly ended. Directly in front of the house (in the left of this photo), are two stanchion posts denoting that it's a private driveway. So TH decided to back up and back down the road to the previous street. But he did not back up in the same direction as the road. I felt a bump, indicating we had gone over the side, as pictured here:
I think you can see here how, once you go over the curb, the ground sort of falls away - we nearly fell with it
Not one to panic (thank goodness), TH put the car back in drive and we turned around in the Cullen's driveway instead (which was less exciting, in a very good way).
Our near-death experience allowed me to take this great photo...
... and this not-so-great one *shrug*

The road up - better suited for walking
The beautiful home in all its glory!
Fun fact: if two cars pealed simultaneously out of that garage, they would fly off the edge of the drop-off and crash at the bottom. Like in Ferris Bueller.
Anyway, we're all okay, and we got to do lots of fun sight-seeing with Mrs. P! Later on that day, TH could be heard complaining, "I thought we were just taking this P character to those houses, not everywhere we went." Grumble all you want, TH, Mrs P got to see many sights!
Other than that and a very successful trip up to the wineries in Woodinville, Washington (see Thursday's upcoming post), I did a lot of nothing last week. Visited the dentist, slept a lot, and caught a cold. And today, back to work. Why does it always feel like you haven't been gone at all as soon as you get back to work, except that you have tons of work to make up and people have fucked up your shit? Makes me grumpy.
Happy Monday, everyone!

How fun! First of all, someone actually lives in the Bella house? Wouldn't that be so bizarre? I guess they built a dummy house for New Moon (if I'm remembering correctly). What about the Cullen house, are people living in that? I think I'd be kind of concerned if I was living in those houses and crazy fans kept trying to peek inside. Not you of course, the actual crazies lol. I dont know why I'm so amazed by this, it's like I thought these places only existed in the movie!
Oh and I love that you mentioned you stopped in a diner. Diners are my favorite places in the world cause I love that smell of coffee and warm bread when you walk in ;)
Wow the Cullen house is so beautiful. Such beautiful scenery all around it. In Australia, I live near a movie studio and my kids school was used in a few kids TV series and a movie. We get such a kick out of seeing places we know on the big screen.
I actually met Ethan Hawke playing a different type of vampire called Edward when they were filming Daybreakers here. I had taken my mum out to brunch at a cafe near the beach for her birthday and a while after we sat down he bumped into my chair as he was sitting down right behind me, he then leaned right over me to ask if I was alright and touched my shoulder - I am sure it tingled.... sigh...he is rather spectacular up close.
Lol the funniest thing tho was my mum (she of no shame) who said way too loud, "oh he looks like a nice man, you should have asked him to sit with us, he is all on his own. How are you going to meet people if you act so shy." .....I am sure I heard him chuckle behind me..
(Squeeeeling like a kid)
OH MY GAWD that is so cool MB! Wow...great pictures and post. I got goosebumps looking at both the Swan and Cullen house. Crazy!
Glad you're alive, otherwise I wouldn't be able to meet you in Forks!
xoxo
Wow. I hadn't realized Bella's house actually exists. I never think about these things when I'm watching a film. It's a very pretty looking house. I bet it's all cozy and warm.
Now, the Cullen's house is absolutely spectacular. It looks exactly like something my husband would draw - he's an architect. I can't wait to show him these photos. :D
Wow that is awesome! I love that you could go to all those places and that you had a little adventure along the way.
Whoa, you have a lot more will power than I do. I may have thrown myself against the front door of the Cullen house, rang the doorbell, and yelled for Edward! Ya, I'm nuts like that! LOL!
Freaking awesome!!!! I remember what a fangirl moment it was for me when I saw the house and ballpark from the movie Field of Dreams, so I know it would be even more exciting to see those houses.
Props to your hubby for driving you around and nearly off a cliff. LOL! Can't wait to see Mrs. P's post with all of the pictures. Awesome job, babe!
Lisa
I tried to post here 4 times last night and kept getting kicked off ISP.
Road trip!
The pictures you took are really great! You captured a lot! And glad you guys survived!
I wonder if some crazy fan with money will purchase the Swan house someday and make it a tourist attraction. I know I'd pay to go sit on the bed in Bella's room and pretend Edward was coming through the window at any moment.
@sparkletwilight - I *think* someone lives in the Cullen house, there was a BMW in the drive. Originally, it was the home of a Nike executive, but I don't know if that's still the case.
@edwardsisobel - how exciting to meet Ethan Hawke! I love him! And I freak out over seeing anyplace I know or have been in movies, too, so this was just like the reverse of that. :-)
@TongueTwied - I thought about that, too! I would totally buy it and decorate it just like in the movie - how fun would that be??
Thanks for all the comments, you guys! It was so much fun to see the houses, I'm glad you enjoyed the pics!
That is so awesome! I was thinking about taking a vacation to see those same sights. Not gonna happen now, so I get to live vicariously! Woohoo!
You drove right by me, twice, on your trip to Woodinville. I'm in Olympia. Wave next time to your fellow Twitard, k?
Great pictures. Looks like it was fun to do.
My father-in-law always says to us before we leave on a trip "Don't fall off the road." Who knew I should have said it to you?? ;) I am glad you survived :)
