I am feeling lazy and hot, and (unlike the last three weeks) I don't have anything elaborate prepared for you today. What I do have? Boxed wine in my fridge.
Available at Target - a new variety: Riesling!Now, if you're a boxed wine aficionado *cough*Lisa*cough*, and especially if you buy your boxed wine from Target, as TH and I do, you might be surprised that I have a riesling! It's new! I was so excited - riesling is one of my favorite wines, and usually they go safe with the boxed stuff and you get Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, or sometimes Pinot Gris. At least, that's all I ever see. So this new cube was an exciting discovery.

Now, as you may recall from my previous boxed wine post, part of the reason I love the cubes so much is that they keep for so long. Since no oxygen gets in, you don't have to worry about the wine turning if you're having a less-drunk week than usual. Hooray for maximizing my drinking!

The boys have been grumpy lately because of the heat - it makes the cat crazy and he harasses them.
So this wine is fruity and sweet, but not overly so. It's pretty mild, with a hint of dryness that makes it taste very clean and light. In short, it's perfect for the hot weather I'm currently suffering through.

I'm not a buyer of boxed wine, but I've enjoyed boxed zinfandel with the inlaws. MIL likes to buy it for all the same practical reasons you mentioned. Maybe I'll pick up a box of this for her, so I can taste it. Enjoy!

Ok now I'm going to go get myself some boxed wine. It looks so cute in the fridge! I'm not a huge white wine fan though...I do like the occasional sauv blanc...how is it?
I wish it was hot here..ok not hot but beach weather. It's sunny at my house but 15 min west at the beach it's still overcast. Blah. Can't wait to share a glass of vino in FORRRRRKKKKKKKKKKKSSSSSSS!

Hell to the yes I love me some boxed wine!! LOL! I've been MIA the last couple of weeks, as you know. How ironic I made it back today. That wine cube is adorable. My Franzia is rectangular and I am a creature of habit. I drink White Zin or Sunset Blush. I did have a lovely Riesling when my sister and I took my dad wine tasting for Father's Day, though.
And happy belated birthday!!! I remember turning 30 and thinking yikes. Now that I'm knocking on 50, 30 sounds pretty damn good.

i was surprised to learn that boxed wines are quite popular in france, since the traditional bottling methods are much more expensive (broken glass/failed corks).
Don't you just love how if you don't have too much to say in a post, all you have to do is add some Edward Cullen action figures and it livens everything up. Great use of Twi lines. Soooo funny. I love these posts and the funny thing is I don't even drink. I don't like alchohol at all, but you do the posts so entertaining. I'm always LOLing.
